What kinds of items can I borrow?
You can borrow a wide range of items, including common household and everyday items such as tools, ladders, tables, garden equipment, and event gear. In theory, anything that is legal, safe to lend, and permitted under our platform rules can be listed, as long as an owner is willing to make it available. Each listing includes details, usage guidelines, and any restrictions set by the owner. Some categories may be restricted or excluded for safety, legal, or policy reasons.
What is Lendit
A localised item-lending service that helps people borrow and lend everyday items locally - from tools and ladders to tables and event equipment.
Is Lendit limited to my postcode?
By default, the platform focuses on your local neighbourhood to keep borrowing convenient and community based. However, if you can’t find what you need nearby, you have the option to expand your search area to see items available a little further afield. This gives you flexibility when you need something specific, while still encouraging local sharing whenever possible.
How does Lendit verify my identity?
We verify identity using Ondato, a secure digital identity verification service. Before borrowing an item, you’ll be asked to complete a quick verification process through Ondato. This usually involves checking a government-issued photo ID and confirming a few basic details. Most users only need to do this once. Your information is handled securely and used only to confirm your identity, reduce fraud, and help keep the community safe. Your personal details are never shared with other users. Identity verification also helps us support the Lendit Guarantee and resolve any issues fairly if something goes wrong during a loan.
Do I pay to borrow an item?
Yes. All items on the platform are borrowed for a fee. Prices are set by the item owner and shown clearly before you confirm a request. Any additional costs, such as delivery are also displayed upfront so there are no surprises.
Can a lender decline my request?
Yes. Item owners always choose which requests to accept.
How do I list an item?
Create a listing with photos, a description, availability, and any usage or care rules. When listing an item, you can also choose to add optional protection.
Can I set rules for how my item is used?
Yes. Owners can set clear guidelines for example, indoor use only, return clean, or no modifications.
Do I have to lend to everyone who asks?
No. You’re always in control and can approve or decline any request.

Can I opt out of the Lendit Guarantee?
